Lynette started out in the magazine industry at the age of 20, working for a small publisher of niche business-to-business titles, where she held the position of editorial assistant and features writer. After a year with the company, she was ready for the big wide world of consumer titles and joined the ELLE Magazine South Africa team as features writer. She held that position for a year and then moved into the production and copy-editing department for a further 18 months. After that, she stepped into the shoes of beauty editor, where she was lured to stay for almost four years. Her final role at ELLE was that of assistant editor, a position she had set her sights on from day one at the magazine. After a successful year in that position, Lynette and her family packed up their lives in Cape Town, South Africa and headed to the tropical island of Mahé, Seychelles. While there, she worked as assistant editor on the island’s official tourism magazine, before heading home to Cape Town, after an idyllic year living in the tropics. After almost two years of full-time freelancing, Lynette joined Marie Claire magazine as deputy editor, where she stayed for 15 months.
Currently, Lynette continues to freelance as an editor and writer for both local and international magazines. She has freelanced extensively over the years for a range of titles both in South Africa and abroad, including regular features for Tatler Hong Kong, Asia Spa Magazine, Family Holiday & Leisure, Escapes, Private Edition, Family Traveller UK, Edgars Club, The Sunday Times Lifestyle UK, House and Leisure, Juice, Places, Sawubona and Khuluma (four in-flight magazines) and many others.
